Senior Structural Engineer – Bespoke Structures & Dynamic Systems

An established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join its specialist team, working on complex, one-off projects across the live entertainment, experiential and automated systems sectors.
This is a role for an engineer who takes genuine pride in technical ownership — leading structural analysis and design from first principles all the way through to final delivery. You’ll be working within a multidisciplinary team, bringing strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving to bear on dynamic, unconventional and bespoke structures that push beyond standard engineering boundaries.
The Role
• Structural analysis & design — Leading engineering analysis and design across bespoke structures, machinery and rigging systems
• Advanced calculations — Performing detailed calculations using hand methods, engineering judgement and specialist analysis software
• Concept-to-delivery engineering — Turning conceptual ideas into robust, fully compliant engineering solutions
• Cross-functional collaboration — Working closely with design studios, project managers and manufacturing teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Technical communication — Communicating engineering results, risks and recommendations clearly and confidently to a range of audiences
• Standards compliance — Ensuring all designs meet applicable UK and international codes and standards
• Mentoring — Supporting junior engineers and actively contributing to the development of the wider team
• External engagement — Building and maintaining relationships with external engineering partners and consultants
• Continuous improvement — Helping to develop engineering tools, refine processes and raise internal standards
• Design reviews — Participating in technical discussions, design reviews and project meetings throughout delivery
What We’re Looking For
• Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Significant experience in structural analysis and design, ideally on complex or bespoke structures
• Strong understanding of stress, deflection, stability and dynamic behaviour
• Proficiency with structural analysis tools such as RISA-3D, SAP2000, Robot or similar
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, BS standards or equivalent international codes
• Experience designing in steel and aluminium — composites experience is a plus
• Able to work independently while keeping multiple priorities on track
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership preferred
• Experience in entertainment engineering, temporary works, stage machinery or kinetic structures is advantageous
• Exposure to dynamic load cases and design-for-manufacture environments
• Previous experience mentoring junior engineers
