CNC Programmer

South Elmsall | Permanent | £17 – £18 per hour

 

An established engineering and manufacturing business is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer to join its team. This is a hands-on role focused on developing and optimising CNC programs to manufacture high-quality, precision components across a variety of materials.

Working closely with machinists, designers, and engineers, you’ll create efficient CNC programs from engineering drawings and CAD models, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve machining processes, cycle times, and overall manufacturing efficiency.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Creating CNC programs from 2D and 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Developing tool paths for milling, turning, and routing operations
  • Selecting appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for different materials
  • Determining machining sequences, cutting directions, and reference points
  • Proving out new CNC programs and making adjustments where required
  • Reviewing and improving existing programs based on production feedback
  • Troubleshooting CNC programming and machining issues
  • Identifying inefficient cutting conditions and implementing improvements
  • Optimising programs to improve cycle times, productivity, and component quality
  • Providing technical support and guidance to CNC machinists
  • Working closely with engineering and design teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
  • Supporting continuous improvement across CNC machining processes

 

What you need:

  • Proven CNC programming experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Experience programming CNC milling, turning, and/or routing operations
  • Strong experience using CAM software to create programs from CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Apprentice-trained or equivalent relevant engineering/manufacturing experience
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, speeds, and feeds
  • Good mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimise CNC programs independently
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively across manufacturing and engineering teams
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
