A survey has highlighted the growing struggle that parents face with summer childcare in Britain, citing increasing costs and gaps in availability. The average cost for six weeks of holiday childcare has risen to £943 for each school-aged child, up 3% on 2022, according to the data from the Coram Family and Childcare survey. The survey also found that less than a quarter of local authorities had enough holiday childcare for parents working full-time. Meanwhile, just 5% had enough holiday childcare availability for children with disabilities. Coram called on the government to increase its support for parents during the school holiday, including with an extension of childcare funding.
