Engineering Documentation & Quality Support Role

Overview

The organisation is a long‑established engineering manufacturer supplying complex, safety‑critical systems. They operate across manufacturing, engineering, project delivery and business support functions, and are expanding their team with a documentation‑focused quality support professional.

The role provides essential support in maintaining production documentation, certification records, and traceability information required for internal review, customer acceptance activities, and formal quality assurance processes.

📄 Key Responsibilities

  • Document control — Maintain all physical and digital documents in a structured, auditable format.
  • Change control tracking — Number, register, distribute and track technical queries, change requests and related documentation.
  • Audit trail management — Provide full traceability of incoming and outgoing project documentation.
  • Quality checking — Verify correct revisioning, titles, numbering and formal document standards.
  • Production data updates — Review, complete and update production documentation in line with project timelines.
  • Build pack compilation — Collate release certification and build documentation for customer acceptance.
  • Certification traceability — Record traceability and verify accompanying certification meets customer expectations.
  • Quality liaison — Interface with customer quality representatives when required.
  • Cross‑functional support — Work closely with procurement, production and quality teams.
  • Occasional inspection support during assembly, pre‑delivery and acceptance activities.

🎓 Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree, HND, HNC or significant experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.

⭐ Desirable Experience

  • Working within defence, government or regulated engineering contracts.
  • Use of ERP or quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent quality standards.
  • Familiarity with certificates of conformance, material certificates or test reports.
  • Understanding of basic quality assurance and non‑conformance processes.
