Applications Engineer – CNC Mill/Turn

£36,000–£42,000 + door‑to‑door travel pay | OTE c.£50,000 | Permanent
This role suits an experienced CNC Programmer who wants to step away from day‑to‑day shop floor work into a technical, customer‑facing position. Joining a well‑established CNC machine tool manufacturer, you’ll use your mill/turn expertise to support customers, assist with machining challenges, and deliver practical applications support. Full applications training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Deliver machining support and technical guidance to customers and internal teams
- Plan and carry out cutting trials, machine demonstrations, and presentations
- Provide training on CNC controls and CAM software
- Attend UK and overseas exhibitions as a technical representative
- Respond to technical queries and provide on‑site support where needed
- Support project handovers alongside sales and engineering teams
- Maintain knowledge of tooling, machining methods, and measurement technology
Requirements
- Proven experience programming and setting CNC mill/turn machines
- Competent with CAD/CAM software
- Background in subcontract machining or precision engineering
- Clear communication skills and a practical approach to problem solving
- Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
- HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is desirable but not essential
Package
- Salary of £36,000–£42,000 depending on experience
- Door‑to‑door travel pay, with OTE around £50,000
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
